Dare You Have the Courage to Be Who You Really are?
May I have the courage to be who I really am
Not who others think I am or want me to be
May I have the clarity
To fully believe and see
The strength & courage that lives in me
May I find the path past
Everything that holds me back
May I remember how far I’ve already come
In my journey to become
Today may I dare myself to be
Who I already am
Meditation Courage Finding Practice
Find a quiet place that you are comfortable in
Exhale or sigh and clear your mind of distraction or let go of what your mind is telling you that you should be doing instead.
Think of who in your life supports you in becoming who you really are, connect to that feeling and to a feeling of gratitude for their presence in your life. Think of who embodies courage for you, it can be someone you know, it can be a historical figure or image.
When you are ready start a compassionate self-inquiry that gently focuses on one of the following questions without judgement: What in your life supports you to be who you really are? What stops you from being who you really are? Whose life are you living? What is it that you long to do and be? Courage is connected to clarity and to commitment If we know what we want we can have the courage to fully commit to becoming it. So, take some time to become clear about what you want and think of something that you can do today that will help support who you really are.
It helps to end the practice by saying a prayer like the one below that encapsulates this thought process and bring it into your day. The prayer will speak to you more powerfully if you write your own prayer in your own words and based on your own experience.
