Nepal COVID Support
Unfortunately due to COVID, Heartbeats & Footprints’ 2020 Pilgrimage to Nepal was cancelled. Our pilgrimage to Nepal is rooted in service and is designed to help support different organizations, NGO’s and charities that do meaningful and impactful work. The COVID “lock down” left many Nepalis unable to work and struggling for food to feed their families. With donations from the canceled pilgrimage, Heartbeats & Footprints teamed up with three on-the -ground organizations that we normally work with during our pilgrimages to provide direct help to families in need. Thanks to Heartbeats & Footprints’ pilgrims we made the following donations.
We donated $600 to help Sathya Uddhyan with operating expenses. These expenses included paying for teachers salaries so that they can support and take care of their families. We also provided food to students’ families and to those in need in the local community.
We donated $300 to Welcome To My Yard. With the first donation of $200 we received the following message from them.
We can deliver 19 packs of emergency relief materials like food and other essentials that contains 10kg of rice, 2kg of beaten rice, 2 kg lentils, soaps, cooking oil, salt etc during COVID-19. Or we can provide hot meals for 70 sessions of our Kids club (runs once a week) program (social work) that would last for the span of more than 1 and ½ years of hot meal for kids club benefiting 15-20 kids (average) per session in Kids club. This is a huge amount for some of our programs that we run. Thank you so much for donating for a good cause.
I also also asked friends from Shechen Monastery to donate our room deposits to families in need. Our $200 deposit was used to buy basic food supplies for 7 families. The food packets included one 25(kg) sack of rice, 3kilos of sugar and 5 liters of cooking oil.
